Last Underwater Shoot

Sat Apr 25, 2009, 3:12 PM
Did my last underwater shoot for the season on Friday. The pool is just too cold right now and after about about 5 minutes I start shaking. With respect to the model, I never use a wetsuit when shooting underwater....I believe we should both suffer for the sake of creating art.
Photographed the beautiful Laurai from Brisbane, who made a special stop over in Port Stephens on her way to Sydney. I am very grateful and honoured that she considered my work good enough to stop by and brave the cold water to shoot with me.

Now, how am I going to make it through winter without shooting underwater? Maybe there is a heated pool in this area I can borrow....who knows. I just love the freedom and diversity of making art underwater. I think I should take a trip up north to the great barrier reef and shoot in the open ocean...any models keen?

Great underwater photos.

How do you get the background to be black in the pool?
:iconbrentmail:
Black vinyl backdrop, draped into the pool, using weights at the bottom to keep it down.
:iconvondode:
that's a great technique, and it looks great.
